Blazin Squad to perform at charity night concert for Ben Roe
THE plight of battling six-year-old leukaemia sufferer Ben Roe has already reached thousands via a Facebook page set up in his honour. And now, thanks to high-profile supporters, a glitzy charity concert is to be put on in his name in Salford on August 27.
Organising the event is Wayne Lineker, brother of former England footballer Gary, and owner of a chain of bars across the world. Wayne, like thousands of others, learnt of Ben’s plight online and decided to organise the starry music night at Salford’s Lowry Theatre to try to raise funds for the youngster. The bill includes Blazin’ Squad, X Factor finalists Andy Abraham, Scott Bruton and Daniel De Bourg, while Britain’s Got Talent ventriloquist Damon Scott and dancers MD Productions will also be performing.
Little Ben was born with Down’s Syndrome, then just before his second birthday was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. He underwent chemotherapy, but in a further twist 14 months later became ill again, with another form of the disease. Because of his condition, doctors are unsure how much further treatment Ben can cope with, but the youngster and his family, from Doncaster, continue to battle courageously against the odds.
